DuelSMP

Rules

Short rules. Enforced.

Everything here exists to keep the fight meaningful. If a rule reads like common sense, that is the point.

Automatic the server does it for you.Staff moderators enforce it.

Claims and loot windows

  1. Only PvP deaths open claims

    Automatic

When a player kills you, every claim you own opens for 30 minutes. Mobs, falls, lava, the void and other natural deaths never open anything.

  2. Raiders loot, they don't grief

    Automatic

In an open claim anyone can use chests and other containers, doors, buttons and levers. Breaking or placing blocks, buckets, fire and explosions stay blocked.

  3. Dying again resets the clock

    Automatic

Another PvP death while your window is open sets it back to the full 30 minutes.

  4. The window closes on its own

    Automatic

When time runs out your claims lock again with the same trust as before. Lost items are not refunded.

  5. No claim blocking

    Staff

The server already stops claims from overlapping. Claims made only to box in another player's base are removed.

PvP and combat

  1. Claims don't stop PvP

    Automatic

You can fight on open ground and inside claims. Running away is allowed.

  2. 15 second combat tag

    Automatic

Hitting a player, or getting hit by one, tags you both for 15 seconds. Every hit restarts the timer.

  3. No teleporting out

    Automatic

    While tagged you can't use /spawn, /home, /tpa, /tpahere, /tp, /tphere, /warp, /back, /rtp, /wild or team warps.

  4. Combat logging is a death

    Automatic

Log out while tagged and you die on the spot. The last player who hit you gets the kill, opens your claims and collects any bounty.

  5. No spawn camping

    Staff

Trapping players at spawn or killing them again and again as they respawn is not allowed.

Fair kills

  1. Repeat kills don't count

    Automatic

Only one kill on the same player counts every 30 minutes. Extra kills give no leaderboard kill, streak, raid or bounty. The death still counts for the victim.

  2. Teammates and allies

    Automatic

You can't hurt your own team or allied teams. If one dies to you anyway, the kill doesn't count and no claim opens.

  3. Same connection, no kill

    Automatic

Kills between two players on the same IP address never count and never open a claim.

  4. No kill farming

    Staff

Using alt accounts or arranged deaths to pad stats, collect a bounty or open a friend's claim gets you banned.

New players

  1. 30 minutes of protection

    Automatic

On your first join you get 30 minutes of PvP protection. It only counts down while you are online.

  2. Protected means out of the fight

    Automatic

While protected you can't hit players, they can't hit you, and you can't loot open claims.

  3. Ending it early

    Automatic

/protection shows your time left. /protection off confirm ends it for good.

Teams

  1. Team limits

    Automatic

A team holds up to 8 members and 2 allied teams. A team with a premium member gets 16 members and 4 allies.

  2. Claims are not shared by default

    Automatic

Teammates only get into your claim if you /trust them. A teammate's death opens their own claims, never yours.

  3. Don't dodge the cap

    Staff

Running several teams as one group to get around the member and ally limits is not allowed.

  4. Betrayal is yours

    Staff

Insiding a team is a social crime, not a bannable one. Choose who you trust.

Bounties

  1. Paid up front

    Automatic

/bounty set <player> <amount> takes the money right away. The minimum is 100, and you can't put a bounty on yourself.

  2. The next counted kill collects

    Automatic

The whole pot goes to the next player whose kill counts. 10% of every bounty is taken as tax.

  3. Unclaimed bounties are refunded

    Automatic

If nobody collects within 7 days, the money goes back to whoever placed it.

Nether and End

  1. They open on a schedule

    Automatic

The Nether and the End stay closed until their opening date. Portals and teleports into a closed dimension are blocked. See the dates.

  2. No sneaking in

    Staff

Getting into a closed dimension any other way counts as an exploit.

Chat

  1. Talk like a rival

    Staff

Taunts are part of the game. Slurs, threats and targeted harassment are not.

  2. No doxxing

    Staff

Real-world information about any player is an instant permanent ban.

  3. No spam or ads

    Staff

No flooding chat, and no advertising other servers or links.

  4. English in main

    Staff

Keep the main channel English so moderation and callouts work for everyone.

Cheats and exploits

  1. No clients or macros

    Staff

Hacked clients, x-ray (mods or resource packs), combat mods, auto-clickers and macros are banned. Cosmetic and performance mods are fine.

  2. Report, don't farm

    Staff

Abusing a bug is treated the same as installing a cheat. Report it and the window stays honest.

  3. Dupes get rolled back

    Staff

Duplicated items are wiped. The economy is only interesting if it's real.

  4. No lag machines

    Staff

Builds or farms made to lag the server are removed.

Fair play

  1. Bans are on the record

    Staff

Staff log every action. You can appeal once, with evidence.

  2. One ban, every account

    Staff

Joining on another account while banned extends the ban to both.

  3. The shop buys no safety

    Staff

Ranks are perks and convenience. Nothing sold protects your claim or changes the loot window.

  4. Have a fight worth having

    Staff

The whole point of DuelSMP is meaningful PvP. If something you found removes the stakes, it will be removed.
